Academics
Welcome! At Atco Christian, we strive to give each child a warm and happy introduction to their educational journey. While delivering the lessons required to learn and grow the basics, we also incorporate an exploration of the arts, sciences, and social studies. Christian values of how to treat others, respect, and community responsibility are essential skills best gained at a young age.
PreschoolChildren between the ages of 2.5 to 4.5. Our curriculum for first year students focuses on positive social skills, emotional development, and learning a sense of personal and community space. Children in the first year of preschool work on developing the most basic of gross and fine motor skills, as well as an introduction to the alphabet, shapes, and colors. Children in the second year, continue to build on these skills while gaining a greater level of recognition of individual letters, numbers, and patterns, and strengthening fine motor skills.

Transitional KChildren ages 4 to 5. This group of children have either had previous preschool experience or are at a skill level beyond pk 1 & 2, but not quite at kindergarten stage. The focus with students in this class is to expand on their understanding of the alphabet by introducing beginning sounds and combinations of letters to form small words. They will learn how numbers relate to each other in basic math skills. Children learn to problem solve through detailed thought and how to process multi-step instructions. Their fine and gross motor skills are also expanded.
